Dry needling and acupuncture both involve puncturing the skin with thin needles for therapeutic purposes. While a shared goal is to provide relief from pain, the practices are otherwise quite different.

Dry needling relieves pain and tightness in muscles. It may also improve flexibility. Inserting a needle into a specific trigger point (knot) releases tension in the surrounding muscle.

Medical Neuro-Acupuncture involves inserting needles along meridian channels on the body to stimulate sensory nerves in the skin and muscles. It is used to promote overall wellness and manage stress, relieve some health conditions, treat chronic pain, headaches, and arthritis etc.

Dr. Olexa Chewpa’s journey into chiropractic care started with his own love for movement and a fascination with the human body. Growing up as a multi-sport athlete, he was always drawn to the mechanics of strength, endurance, and recovery. This led him to the University of Ottawa, where he earned a Bachelor of Human Kinetics. But his curiosity didn’t stop there. Driven to make a difference in people’s lives, he went on to pursue his Doctorate in Chiropractic at New York Chiropractic College, where he could truly begin helping others in a hands-on way. Now, Dr. Olexa’s days are filled with people of all ages and backgrounds, each with unique stories and goals. Whether he’s treating an athlete pushing through recovery or a busy parent dealing with chronic back pain, he brings the same commitment to each session. Back and neck pain, sciatica, headaches, TMJ, and posture issues—these are just some of the conditions he treats daily, always with the aim of helping patients feel their best, both physically and mentally. Dr. Olexa is passionate about building healthy, repeatable habits that lead to lasting results. He believes in making small, consistent changes that add up over time, guiding his patients to live longer, more balanced lives. He’s also a firm believer in learning—both for himself and his patients. By staying up-to-date with the latest research, he strives to be a trusted source of guidance and knowledge, encouraging a true partnership with his patients where both sides understand the treatment path. Outside the clinic, you’ll likely find Dr. Olexa embracing the outdoors. He loves to run, cycle, and ski in the beautiful Ottawa/Gatineau region, surrounded by friends and family. And when he’s not on the trails, he’s often diving into a biographical book of some modern or historical figure, savouring a quiet moment by the fire. For Dr. Olexa, the journey of health and wellness is about growth, connection, and embracing life’s adventures—both in and out of the clinic.
